The most important part

You’re not asking your missionary to do more.

They’ll already be writing home every week. That doesn’t change. Their weekly email simply includes one more address, their own Follow My Mission address, and the journal builds itself.

What one ordinary week turns into.

Cameron Talbot is serving in the Cote d’Ivoire Abidjan East mission. In Week 6, his first week in Africa, he wrote home the way he does every week. His family didn’t forward anything or dig through inboxes. The email simply became this entry.

“Hi guys I finally made it out of the MTC. There’s so much to say I dont even know where to start.”
  1. The email arrives as usual. Dated and placed in order, week after week.
  2. Photos are kept with the letter. All ten from that email, which also appear in the journal’s photo gallery.
  3. The letter is kept word for word. It sits right under the photos.
  4. Followers respond. Approved family and friends can like and comment.

The first weeks are the ones you can’t get back.

Setting up before they leave, before the MTC, means the journal is ready the moment the first letter is sent.

  1. Captured from week one.

The first letter from the MTC, the first week in the field, the first companion. They’re all saved in order, with their photos. You can even post the call opening or farewell before they go.

  2. Followers ready and waiting.

Share the private link with grandparents, siblings, and friends ahead of time, and approve them before the first entry arrives.

  3. Nothing missed.

Instead of letters buried among promotions and reply-all threads, every week lands in one organized place.

Their weekly email. That’s really all it takes.

  1. 1

They send their weekly email, as usual.

Your missionary writes home the way they already do. The only addition is their unique Follow My Mission address on that same email. Nothing new to learn. Nothing extra to maintain.

  2. 2

    Follow My Mission receives it.

Each weekly email and its photos are automatically turned into an organized journal entry, in order, week after week. The journal builds itself.

  3. 3

Followers read it free, in one private place.

Share one private link. Only approved family and friends can read the journal, browse the photo gallery, leave likes and comments, and see the mission map. No giant email list required.

A few things you might be wondering.

Does my missionary have to do anything differently?

Not really. They get a unique Follow My Mission email address and simply include it when they send their regular weekly email and photos. Same letter, same photos, same routine. Follow My Mission takes it from there.

How much does it cost?

The Online Mission Journal is $49 one time. No subscription and no monthly fees. It covers the journal for the duration of their mission, with unlimited weekly entries.

Do family and friends have to pay to follow?

No. Approved family and friends follow free, and you can approve as many as you like. Only the journal itself is paid for, once.

Is the $119 printed book required?

No. The hardcover Mission Photo Book is completely optional and purchased separately, usually when the mission is complete. It is $119 for up to 300 pages (then $0.50 per extra page, up to 500), about 8″×12″ on gloss paper, with an editable layout before ordering and shipping included.

Who can see the journal?

Only approved followers. Friends and family request access, and the missionary or a trusted delegate, such as a parent, decides who can follow. Individual entries can also be marked Private. Follow My Mission does not sell journal letters, photos, or follower lists.

Can a parent set it up and manage it?

Yes. When you sign up, choose Create a mission journal. It is meant for missionaries, parents, or anyone setting up a journal for a missionary. A parent or another adult at home can act as a delegated admin, including approving follower requests while the missionary serves.

When should we set it up?

As soon as you like, including before they leave. Their Follow My Mission address is used only to create journal entries, so it can be part of their weekly email from the very first letter. If you want, you can also use it to post pre-mission entries, such as the call opening or the farewell, so the story starts at the beginning.

What if they have already left?

It is not too late. Start the journal and have them include their Follow My Mission address on their next weekly email. To catch up on earlier letters, your missionary can forward their previous emails to that address, or a delegated person, such as a parent, can forward them on the missionary’s behalf.

What happens when the mission ends?

The journal stays private, in order, and ready. Their letters and photos remain together as a record of their mission, even after their missionary accounts are gone. If you like, you can turn it into the optional photo book.

Is Follow My Mission an independent service?

Yes. Follow My Mission is an independent journal for families and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any church.
